Fænø Kalv is special in the sense that there are remnants of a Swedish basition from the Sweden/Denmark War - the Swedes fortified themselves in this small island to escape the Danish troops back in 1658.

Fænø Kalv is also interesting in the sense that it is intentionally kept clear of any new construction, which gives visitors the experience of visiting a deserted island.
